The Healthiest Man Alive

I caught this video of a guy who says he will live the life of “the healthiest man alive” for the year 2011.  Here’s an excerpt from

Author A.J. Jacobs’ books include “The Know-it-All,” “My Life as an Experiment” and “The Year of Living Biblically.” For the last, he spent a year trying to follow every rule and guideline in the Bible – more than 700 of them. In his current project, he’s trying to follow every piece of verified health advice that he can find, testing everything from barefoot running to calorie restriction diets. He sat down with me to talk about his goal of being “The Healthiest Person Alive.”

Interesting what he’s doing and documenting.  Only thing is I wonder about the usefulness of it all.  I mean, if he wanted to know what diets or exercises can truly make a difference, then he should implement one at a time and test to see if there are any positive changes.  I mean, doing everything you’re told by just anyone who thinks they’re an expert.. well.. if you have no common sense, no background in diet and exercise, then you can allow yourself to grow crazy by trying to do half of what people tell you to do.. which is 70-80% bullshit anyways!

According to the NPC, here’s how the Men’s Physique Division will be judged:

Muscularity & Body Condition

Judges will be looking for fit contestants who display proper shape and symmetry combined with muscularity and overall condition. This is not a bodybuilding contest so extreme muscularity should be marked down.

Stage Presence & Personality

Contestants will be asked to walk in board shorts (shorts must be just above the knee in length and can be one inch below the belly button, no spandex and no logos are permitted on the board shorts however a manufacturer’s logo such as Nike symbol or Billabongs are acceptable.) Competitors will enter the stage without a shirt and barefoot. No lewd acts allowed for example the moon pose. Judges are looking for the contestant with the best stage presence and poise who can successfully convey his personality to the audience.


Revolution Training Program and Boot Camps

The Revolution Training Program is in a class format of up to ten people.  It is designed and implemented by one of our personal trainers, who will see that you do all exercises correctly and that you are pushed to your limits.  The energy is kept up by the trainer and his motivation and the high energy music pumping through our sound system.

It incorporates resistance training, cardiovascular training, plyometrics, core and flexibility work at the same time.  You go from one station to the next, no rest, no conversations, just a hard, but fun workout.  The stations may be a Cybex weight machine, free weights, a Spin bike, a running in place rebounder, a jump rope, a plyometric platform, etc.  We are always changing the program to insure that your body doesn’t adapt to it and benefits just keep on coming.   It is designed to work all aspects needed to improve ones over-all physical conditioning in a time efficient, affordable manner.  Try the first session for free.  Come with a friend or co-worker.  It’s a great team builder.
